Again. People who tried to do the right thing by reading legally through official sources and even paid for access are punished because they're losing access to EVERYTHING they paid for with zero compensation. Ultimately, they paid only for a momentary access - they own nothing.
Tickets that only unlock a chapter for a few hours exists, sure. If you buy that, you KNOW you're paying for momentary access. But permanent tickets exist, which in this case, aren't actually permanent at all - in contrary to the buyer's expectations and wishes.
Yes, you can request a refund on any unused Cash (if more than 1K) but that’s it. No compensation for money already spent on getting tickets and unlocking chapters. And now, where exactly are people supposed to read these translations if not through unofficial channels??
So, I'm sorry to say, but this won't deter piracy - this will FURTHER advance it instead. Because there's no way to legally read Indonesian translations anymore. Yes, Tapas exists, but not everyone wants to read in English, not to mention other possible problems. This sucks A LOT.

(Personal opinion) Not everything has to come out as "content", whatever the definition is. Your OCs, ships, etc just stay rent-free in your heads? That's fine too!!
Content this, content that...some creatives hate that term because it's often associated with "easily disposable content for mindless & quick consumption with no substance & depth", and creators are merely "content generator".
I think it's nice that "content" encompasses all kinds of art, from visual to writing to music (as some tend to be forgotten by the internet), but at the same, the sentiment around the term isn't great. I feel like a lot of people tend fall into this trap as well.
They're surrounded by this definition of content, so they end up feeling the need to churn out "content" too, visible to others, even when it's a hobby - something that should be stress-free and enjoyable for themselves, first and foremost. And I find that saddening.
(Note: I know I said something a bit different on my blog post. Clearly, character development.)

After a few months of silence and uncertainty, news finally came out that Kakao will close its webtoon service in Indonesia and Taiwan.
My thoughts:
Welp, FINALLY a confirmation. The writing's been on the wall for a few months now, so I'm sure everyone saw it coming at this point - the Twitter account hasn't been active since July (ironically, the last tweet being reassurance and apology) and the webtoons in the app haven't been updated for a few months. It was a slow and painful death.
Still, it's disappointing, frustrating, and painful. At the very least, I wish the official Twitter would say something - communicate to us honestly and directly. Just say that they're shutting down, and I (and many others) might not be this furious. This is such a bad way to shut down a service, to ghost customers like that.
And once again, people who read legally and bought "permanent" tickets got the short end of the stick (or even punished for their good intentions) because it's actually not permanent...😔
Re: This tweet: The last paragraph...there's also A LOT of piracy in English, though. But I guess that market is bigger, so there's still plenty of profits. And what do they expect from withdrawing from Indonesia, I wonder? More profits?? No way, this is likely to incite even more piracy instead.

This is a good Twitter thread full of anger and frustration, and I share the sentiment. Isn't it funny that publishers say, "Read legally!" But they don't provide a way to read legally, even taking it away? Tapas is no longer region-locked now, which is a good thing, but who knows what complications may arise for us Indonesians. What if the price is higher and we can't afford it, thus inciting even more piracy? What about the webtoons that were in Kakao Webtoon ID but not in Tapas, like "Citra"?? Will you finally bring these webtoons, then?? Not to mention the problems in Tapas itself. I'll have to try, wait, and see.
That's all I can say for now. I feel like I've said all the things I wanted over various posts, so I ran out of things to say. But at the same time, I feel like it isn't enough and there's more in my mind. But I'm too tired now. Maybe I'll write a longer post/expand this later, who knows.

I'm really grateful bridging #Fediverse and #Bluesky (and other websites) exists, it's very useful, but

Some people turned off DMs (accidentally or not) or didn't set DMs for public so they didn't get the DM 😅 I don't know if they get the DM or not after changing the settings. In the end, I just told them to "follow bridge account so I can find you/and then follow me"
Also, despite the bot (and the image I'm using) saying "follow this account", some people don't get that they have to follow the bridge account too lol (they thought they only have to only follow my account...fair enough, it needs to be clearer)

Not to mention other downsides and limitations...
It's definitely not a perfect solution, but truly better than nothing

I'm also a nerd who had fallen in love with #Fediverse, as it eliminates the problem of "too many accounts", "tired of migrating", and "fear that it'll (the website/platform worsening and migration) keep happening like a cycle because companies suck" entirely (though with some caveats), so...
It's funny to hear people mention these problems and I'm just like...Fediverse exists!!! It's right there!! It solved all of these problems (kinda)!! (Slaps blackboard) Isn't that great?!
I wish more people would open their eyes to the beauty of Fediverse
But at the same time, I understand why Fediverse isn't mainstream, as it has its own problems. It has a steeper learning curve and requires more effort to get the content you want (following people, searching for tags - even then, it might not get everything)
Smaller user base is both a good and bad thing, too. People go wherever others go, so why bother going someplace without the people you know/want to follow?
I wish it can be for everyone, but right now, it is not
But for me, it's worth the effort and struggles 🥺

- In the next loop, Reinhard the hero came to the rescue!! Or not...because he unintentionally slaughtered the whole crowd that were watching too. OOF. His expression when the horrifying realization dawned on him...😭😭😭💔
Not only did he kill innocent people, he also killed his friend...this shot of dead Subaru is like taken from his point of view, right after turning back. It's haunting.
Someone on Twitter said Reinhard needs therapy now and they want to see the aftermath. That's cruel! Now I want to see it too. 👀 Fanwork material!
- In the next loop, Subaru, out of ideas, decided to ask Beako for help. It's nice to see how much Beako trusts him, she doesn't need to know why or how Subaru knew the information - she knows it's true. 🥺💕
And so is Emilia! She followed them anyway (due to Priscilla's words - she really is sharp) and showed her character development from arc 4/season 2. As she said, just like how Subaru wants to protect her, Emilia wants to protect him, too. And now, she has the powers to do it. 🥺 This is something Subaru has to learn as well - to not be way too overprotective of her (though yeah, it's Witch Cult, so his worry is valid).
- The way Emilia fights is so cool!! She shapes ice into various weapons and wield them well. It's amazing how well she can stand her ground! Also, the fight choreography and animation is so good, I want to cry.
- It was so foul of Sirius to take a girl hostage so Emilia would stop lol. In the end, she lost...and another Archbishop, Regulus, made his grand entrance!! Emilia is his WHAT NUMBER WIFE NOW??? What a cliffhanger!! Emilia really jinxed them by saying, "Well if anything happens I'm sure you'll save me," lmao. That is true, but please...
- Regulus' voice is so nice and it seems familiar...I wonder who it is...(checks AniList) OH, AKIRA ISHIDA!! OF COURSE. NO WONDER. IT'S PERFECT. Sorry, he sounds so iconic but I'm so bad at remembering voices and names, especially VAs lol.
- The ending is no less cool, too!!
