Today is the day of "Katashiro Reflect" (tweet) ad-lib 3D play featuring Naruse Naru, Sukoya Kana (as doctor), and Suo Sango (as Ayumu). It's based on the TTRPG scenario "Katashiro". I watched it a few hours after the stream ended.
I know Sukoya did "Katashiro Reflect" 3D project and I was interested in it, but this is my first time actually watching it. I think doing TTRPG in 3D is a genius idea, but it's understandably hard to do. I applaud Sukoya for this project. "Katashiro" is a good scenario for 3D as it only involves 3 people and has a small setting/location. It's also pretty short.
It was simple, short, and bittersweet. Sango's acting especially blew me away and Naruse followed her energy well, while also acting great himself (that, I have no doubt, since I heard him voice act before). Depending on how you look at it, it can also be pretty meta, which is fascinating (I only realized this after reading a fan's reaction).
It's a nice send-off for Naruse (and his fans) before he graduates in a few days.
Side note: I'm pleasantly surprised how much I understand this stream and I'm thankful for that. YouTube's auto-translate subtitles helped a bit, too.
Maybe I should watch other "Katashiro Reflect" now, I'm curious to see how others did it.

UPROAR!! was a nice surprise and addition to Holostars after we only had 9 members for so long. I'll never forget the moment when they were announced, the seemingly long wait, the exhilarating long-awaited debuts, and all the memories they've created. They will always be fondly remembered as 4, a quartet that causes an uproar.
When Gan-chan debuted, I was very happy to see a member who can draw. A mangaka on top of that!! It's so cool and I admired him as a fellow drawer. His improvement as both a performer (in singing and dancing) and illustrator/mangaka was a sight to behold.
This is a personal anecdote, but it was really funny when my friend (who isn't really into VTubers) suddenly watched his stream and translated some things in chat. Thank you for making it happen, Gan-chan. I'll never forget about it.
It's really sad to part ways like this. He deserves a better ending. But at the very least, I'm glad he could perform in Holostars 5th anniversary concert - his first and last concert - as a great idol shining on stage and left us with one last message. It's hard right now, but surely, in the future, I'll fondly look back on all the memories.
Thank you very much for everything, Gan-chan. I'll miss you, hyper paripi mangaka. I'll miss your cheerfulness, your energy, your goofiness, and your drawings. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. I hope you know that you're loved. You too are a star shining bright in the sky.

Fuck, I hate this...this isn't what I want to wake up to. This isn't what I want to start the day with. I wish it was just a bad dream.
Temma-kun might be my kamioshi and I might not watch and talk about others a lot, but I love everyone in Holostars. Sometimes I lurked in their streams, watched clips, and enjoyed their antics as per their tweets and other fans' tweets. Just 3 days ago, Gan-chan was playing Minecraft and fans tweeted about it...he tweeted just 2 days ago...it's surreal to think that he's suddenly gone now.
As a long time fan, I went through all of Holostars' graduations/terminations except 1 and other VTubers' graduations/terminations. But it never gets any easier. Partings are never easy. Even when I'm not a fan of said VTuber, I still feel the pain. It's especially even more painful when they part so suddenly with no time to say goodbye.
That's the kind of partings that happened in Holostars so far. None of them had a proper graduation stream. Once again, we're left with confusion and sadness with no closure, not knowing what exactly happened. It never gets any easier, and if I may be frank, at this point, I'm sick of it already. The only little consolation is, at the very least, this time, we got a parting message.
Still, as this happened to a group I've supported for the past 5 years...to the VTuber I saw from debut all the way to termination...knowing his aspirations and how hard he worked these past 2.5 years, yet all proof of that will disappear and he could no longer do things he wanted to do...the pain is unlike any other. I actually cried a few times until I got a headache. I also cried again while writing this.
I know nothing is eternal in life. That is especially the case with VTubers, as proven time and time again. This is a harsh reminder of that. That's why, as people said again and again whenever this kind of thing happens, "cherish your oshis before it's too late, so you don't have any regrets" (this also happens to other things and people in general, as you really never know what'll happen in life). But even knowing that, it's not easy...
Not to mention, after the 5th anniversary concert, I feel again how Holostars JP had truly become a 13-members group. We just got "WE ARE THE HOLOSTARS & UPROAR" with 13 people. The lyrics said "13 people". So to take it away so soon is...so cruel...it's so painful...what will happen to the song now?? I wanted a MV, but if that means removing Gan-chan's part, then I don't want it anymore.
Also, this is very personal, but...I still haven't finished writing my blog post about the 5th anniversary concert due to thesis. I know, it's my fault for being so slow and late. Hell, my thesis is also about Holostars. What am I supposed to say there now?? Thesis another thing, but I'm not sure I can finish my blog post, at least for a while. It still hurts a lot to think about and see Gan-chan. I know I should try to watch archives and clips before they're taken down, to reminiscence about him one last time, but it hurts too much, I can't do it... (I said, but I watched some clips anyway.)
Not gonna lie, this kind of thing is why I sometimes think, "Why am I still here, just to suffer?". But I don't think I can get away from VTubers let alone Holostars so easily. I accidentally got here, how do I get out?? So I guess I'll just have to suck it up and cry each time it happens.

Re: opinions about comics (mostly #manhwa)
I don't usually talk about all the manga and manhwa I read (despite reading A LOT), so this is good chance to finally talk about some of them and I'm happy to take it 😊
Mostly short because it's originally posted on Twitter but I may expand it here later
1. Debut or Die
The only idol manhwa that stuck around for me (probably due to the game mechanics, funnily enough). It's really fun!! The characters are charming (they grew on me) and the art is great, too! I also love how we can see the fans' reactions here, feels more real and relatable. I'm not in the fandom exactly but I understand why and how a fandom could be born here
2. Actually, I'm the Real One
One of the first otome isekai (it's not isekai but) manhwa I've read. Nice character development for the FL and great art. Pretty delicious revenge. Haven't continued it in a while, though
I'm on Team Erez btw ☺️
3. Your Throne/I Wanna Be U
A fresh take on a villainess story. It was amazing. Love to see the 2 girls' character development and rekindled their friendship, got even closer. Nice mindgames & art
But it went downhill so I paused it. I heard it's getting worse...😔
Side note: The English title "Your Throne" is better. Like yeah, it started off as "I want to be you", but it had since long moved past that. And it being "I W4nn4 Be U" makes it sound not serious imo, even though it's a quite heavy story
4. The Spark in Your Eyes
Nice inversion for the FL (war veteran) and ML (kind & soft). Can be slow-paced in a good way. Has a nice balance between comedy, fun & heartwarming moments, and the heart-wrenching moments (much tragedy & pain). Gorgeous art too!!
Needs more recognition!!
5. How to Survive as a Maid in a Horror Game
One of the best, if not THE best, (psychological) horror otome isekai manhwa so far. The comedy can be a mixed bag initially but it got better. The beautiful, soft & cute art is a great contrast with the story that keeps you on edge. Love it so much!!
6. Kill the Villainess
The romance is a bit flat for me, but I don't think it's the main focus anyway. I love how it's a unique and darker spin in the genre. Love the pain. I also absolutely love what it did with Helena, very rarely seen in this genre. One of my favorites!
7. Lady Evony/Ebony
A beautiful story about women fighting against corrupt nobles and misogyny, changing the empire in the process. Very fun. I love it so much. The romance is slow burn and the ML doesn't undermine the FL's efforts, which I appreciate
8. The Perks of Being a Villainess
Gorgeous art and charming characters. Both the FL and ML have such unique personalities. It's a very fun read
Haven't continued it in a while, though. Might need a re-read lol
9. The Reason Why Raeliana Ended up at the Duke's Mansion
THE OG, one of the first otome isekai I've read!!
I haven't read it to the end or watched the anime...sorry
It's been YEARS but I remember liking it, the FL and ML have fun banters

10. For My Derelict Favorite
I like how heart-wrenching it started out to be, but over time I realized how things aren't that okay and it bothered me, so I dropped it
11. Philomel the Fake
The FL isn't isekai'd so it twisted the usual formula a bit while staying familiar. I love how (SPOILERS) she actually ran away!! And returned lol. Love her blood-related family, they're a fun bunch. Ugh @ white lotus. Overall a nice read
12. I Shall Master This Family!
Started off good and very promising but WOW, the child arc is VERY long. I paused it. Heard unsavory things that made me hesitant to continue, but I might try again just to see it for myself. At least the father is very great
13. Surviving as the Illegitimate Princess
A quite unique take in the genre and has a great art. It might look fluffy and it has its moments, but the politics/power struggle is very real. I enjoyed it, especially the father-daughter focus, but alas, the romance must come sooner or later...
14. I Will Become the Villain's Poison Taster
Yet another unique take in the genre. The FL is naive but not annoying. Both her and the ML have fun personalities, I especially love their banters!! So far, it balanced the comedy and the serious parts pretty well. The art is gorgeous, too!
15. Kingdom of the Queen
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!! IT'S SO UNDERRATED
A well-executed story about women rising up in a patriarchal kingdom. No romance, women support women! It's so intriguing it keeps you on edge. Love how the 4 main characters are distinct & each have their own paths

My reaction to Phoenix Gramedia's new titles announcement (2024/06/19: updated to article link):
- Rascal Does Not Dream of a Bunny Girl Senpai (manga)
It was already announced before this, so not surprised. A bit too bad it's the manga instead of the original light novel, but I'm still looking forward to it!! I hope the light novel will get picked up, too

Oh man, so many interesting titles...and they aren't cheap. Even the manga is a bit more expensive (65K VS 45K, which is already expensive). How will I be able to buy them all?? I haven't even bought "86 - Eighty Six" (LN) volume 2 yet!! 😭😭😭 (It was honestly a bit painful to miss the pre-order this time, as I pre-ordered volume 1 and got a freebie...well the freebies aren't much, I'm not even interested in the map, but still!!) I really need to graduate and get a job ASAP to fund my hobbies orz

Oh man, so many interesting titles...and they aren't cheap. Even the manga is a bit more expensive (65K VS 45K, which is already expensive). How will I be able to buy them all?? I haven't even bought "86 - Eighty Six" (LN) volume 2 yet!! 😭😭😭 (It was honestly a bit painful to miss the pre-order this time, as I pre-ordered volume 1 and got a freebie...well the freebies aren't much, I'm not even interested in the map, but still!!) It's so good, I felt like I reached enlightenment...the God of Harem Genre has blessed me with this goldmine...tskr. 😇🙏

It's been such a long wait, but the day is finally here!! I'm so excited and happy to see arc 5 animated, and most of all, to see the candidates and their followers gathering once again. I miss them so much. Especially Beako, Julius, and Reinhard (the last 2 didn't appear in arc 4/season 2, so it's been even longer). 🥺🥺🥺
Here's some of my (disjointed) thoughts.
- Beako and Subaru's relationship continues to be a delight. They're so cute!! 🥰💕
- Other than Beako-Subaru, this 1 hour episode has a lot of what I consider one of the series' strengths: character interactions and relationships. It's been so long since we last saw a lot of these characters, so it even feels nostalgic, and may serve as a way to refresh watchers' memories. Their interactions bring a smile to my face.
- Honestly, I feel Subaru in being seasick lol.
- Everyone in yukata, god bless. 🙏
- This season started off by setting up the location and plot while juggling different character subplots, mostly Garfiel and the Astrea family. Interestingly, both are related to families. Was that really Garfiel's mother?? God, that must be awkward.
- I'm biased, but the Astrea family drama is easily one of the most intriguing for me. Here, we finally found out what's the deal with Reinhard and Wilhelm. Despite being family, they backed different candidates and didn't mention each other before...because their relationship is VERY strained, to put it lightly. My god, both of them need a good old hug and perhaps family therapy.
After talking with Subaru, Wilhelm FINALLY took the first step to reconcile in an endearingly awkward way. Reinhard was surprised but he welcomed it - after all, he also wanted to reconcile with his grandfather. They were so close to make up even if a little, but alas, Heinkel had to appear and destroy it all. It's interesting how the weak and pathetic Heinkel could silence the strong Sword Saint and Sword Devil. This also further humanizes Reinhard, who seemed like the picture perfect hero (though this was hinted before already).
- Shipping aside, I LOVE Subaru and Julius' relationship so much. They're so different, almost the exact opposite even, but they can learn some things from each other and I think that's beautiful. Subaru can learn some tact and chivalry, while Julius can learn to be more free beyond his duties as a knight. Subaru is still a big tsundere and that probably won't change, but Julius is more open in accepting their weird friendship. It's also nice to see them worry over their mutual friend, Reinhard. God, I love this trio very much.
- The one who brought Heinkel? Priscilla, who wasn't even invited. It's such a peak drama moment. I can't help but hate her at that moment, but soon after, we see more to her. She might think the whole world is hers and likes to do things out of her own amusement, but it's not like she is all-controlling. "After all, the whole world is her garden, so it matters not where a bird sings." It's such a warped way of thinking, yet it makes sense, and it suits her perfectly.
- Of course, there's a reason why this episode is 1 hour long. Beyond the quite long setup with nice character moments, it also enables the episode to get the conflict in the finale (that is undoubtedly intriguing for watchers): Witch Cult and Subaru's subsequent death. I knew what would happen, but my god, that part is so uncanny and terrifying, I can't even begin to describe it. This is going to be a good ride.
(Note: I only read the beginning of arc 5 in the web novel, and although I've read the summary, it's been so long, so my knowledge is limited.)
