KBBI VI: artis = ahli seni; seniman, seniwati (seperti penyanyi, pemain film, pelukis, pemain drama)
Merriam-Webster: artist = a person who creates art (such as painting, sculpture, music, or writing) using conscious skill and creative imagination
Yes, "artis = actress/actor" is strong in Indonesian for some reason (interesting research topic). But the term isn't exclusive to visual artists (like illustrators), either. Visual art isn't the only art form that exists, acting is an art form, too.
Not gonna lie, this is why I've always been iffy about the common internet usage of "artist" to only refer to visual artists. This is why I liked "content creator" because it's more inclusive (until it isn't, and the pragmatic meaning shifted). But I digress.
