...I need to look (back) at cute and fluffy reinsuba fan arts. I need to heal
My head is filled with reinsuba now... I'm so close to write an essay lmao (trying to hold myself back)

(SPOILERS) Some thoughts:

Theresia's and Wilhelm's love story is sweet and cute...without the bitter aftermath. Loving your partner so much that you neglect your child and grandchild IS NOT sweet or romantic. It's SHITTY, period. It's like seeing a couple with an obsessive partner beyond happily ever after in romance stories. In otome isekai fandom, sometimes we would joke, "Which couple if, the wife died in childbirth, the husband is more likely to blame and neglect the child?". Wilhelm and Heinkel (to a degree) are examples of that. I am biased though, since I love Reinhard and he got caught up in the crossfire.

Could Reinhard show more empathy? Perhaps. But honestly, can you blame him? When he was a kid, his own grandfather blamed him for his grandmother's death. Both his father and grandfather came to hate him and his family fell apart. And yet, now he has the duty to take up his sword and become a hero with all of its burdens. That's all too much for a kid. For most of his life, all he knows is how he's bound by duty and how to act as a hero, not as his own person, as that's also what most people see him to be. Honestly, it's amazing how fairly well-adjusted he grew up to be.

Both Wilhelm and Reinhard were willing to reconcile, even if a bit. But now...that is no longer an option. Their relationship is now broken beyond repair, with Wilhelm not even considering Reinhard as his grandson anymore. Truly a family tragedy.

(How his family and most people treat him is why Reinhard cherish Felt and Subaru, who see him as his own person, so much. But that's another topic for another day.)
