I saw a tweet about #otome_isekai /villainess romance fantasy #manga adapted from light novel published by Yen Press, and as an avid otome isekai/villainess reader, I feel like I have to comment!

The Princess of Convenient Plot Devices - It is the manga where the protagonist got isekai'd to a BL world. It's quite a...controversial (?) title, but personally, I absolutely love it!! It's my favorite in the list, even. It might be slow and look silly at first, but behind that facade, it's thick full of mystery and conspiracies. Many volumes in, there's barely any romance and the protagonist - and us readers - are still lost on the bigger picture (for better or worse lol).

Victoria of Many Faces - This isn't isekai. I'd say it's the more unique titles out there, at least so far, since it focuses on the titular Victoria's life after she escaped the espionage scene.

Hi, I'm a Witch and My Crush Wants Me to Make a Love Potion, The Fiancee Chosen by the Ring, The 31st Consort - I haven't continued them, but I remember being quite fond of them. Nothing groundbreaking, but nothing bad, either. If I remember correctly, The Fiancee Chosen by the Ring is pretty funny, too?

For the rest, I still have to continue reading them to have an opinion. I heard good things about I'll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History! (also has an anime adaptation).Fold

Tfw you dislike your favorite character's most popular ships, so you walk on landmines when desperately searching for food
But at the same time, these ships' existence mean neither will become canon to avoid angering the other shippers...probably, hopefully 😂

I'm being vague on purpose so it seems broad...and it is, but then, there are plenty of examples that don't follow that. But the one I'm specifically thinking of is not one of them. I doubt there'd be any canon romance for them there. Maybe. Hopefully (inhales copium & hopium)

@ my favorite character: you're lucky you're cute and I love you, idiot 😠

Yet another loss to digital-only media: Tapas announced that Roxana manhwa will be removed from the platform on 29 August 2025. The novel stays.

Though this is a rather special/unique case due to what happened to the artist and that, at the very least, Tapas let buyers keep the delisted content they bought. I wish the artist all the best.

I wonder why it's being removed. Is it cancelled? Did the contract end?? If it's cancelled, why is it removed from Tapas? Is that necessary? Were other cancelled manhwa also removed? I don't know much about other cases (other than when the platform shuts down). Some people suspected they might want to remake it with another artist as it's popular. I can see that, but I'm sure that'd cause backlash. 😬

I know this is a popular manhwa and the art is indeed great, but I actually never read it. "Eventually," I said, and now that will become impossible (unless, you know). Maybe the novel...

Of course, if Tapas shuts down, then the manhwa will most likely vanish to the void. But as of right now, and I'd say in the near future, that seems unlikely to happen.

FINALLY watched Re:Zero #anime season 3 episode 14 (64)...
...I need to look (back) at cute and fluffy reinsuba fan arts. I need to heal
My head is filled with reinsuba now... I'm so close to write an essay lmao (trying to hold myself back)

(SPOILERS) Some thoughts:

Theresia's and Wilhelm's love story is sweet and cute...without the bitter aftermath. Loving your partner so much that you neglect your child and grandchild IS NOT sweet or romantic. It's SHITTY, period. It's like seeing a couple with an obsessive partner beyond happily ever after in romance stories. In otome isekai fandom, sometimes we would joke, "Which couple if, the wife died in childbirth, the husband is more likely to blame and neglect the child?". Wilhelm and Heinkel (to a degree) are examples of that. I am biased though, since I love Reinhard and he got caught up in the crossfire.

Could Reinhard show more empathy? Perhaps. But honestly, can you blame him? When he was a kid, his own grandfather blamed him for his grandmother's death. Both his father and grandfather came to hate him and his family fell apart. And yet, now he has the duty to take up his sword and become a hero with all of its burdens. That's all too much for a kid. For most of his life, all he knows is how he's bound by duty and how to act as a hero, not as his own person, as that's also what most people see him to be. Honestly, it's amazing how fairly well-adjusted he grew up to be.

Both Wilhelm and Reinhard were willing to reconcile, even if a bit. But now...that is no longer an option. Their relationship is now broken beyond repair, with Wilhelm not even considering Reinhard as his grandson anymore. Truly a family tragedy.

(How his family and most people treat him is why Reinhard cherish Felt and Subaru, who see him as his own person, so much. But that's another topic for another day.)

>Heartbeat Conquest manhwa is leaving WEBTOON at the end of Feb
>Neural Cloud's death is pretty much confirmed
Valentine is dead. Say sike rn

Re: Heartbeat Conquest

Webtoon suddenly released a few chapters of Heartbeat Conquest at once and announced that the title is leaving Webtoon at the end of the month.

From r/webtoons, the reason is most likely due to Peanutoon suddenly shutting down, which screwed up both creators and readers that the Webtoon Artists Association condemned it.

To say I was devastated and heartbroken by this news is an understatement. I'm so distraught right now. It's one of my favorite otome isekai ever - no, maybe my favorite romance manhwa/webtoon ever, the (reverse) harem story of my dreams with harem seeker FL who actually dates multiple boys at once. I love it so much, it means a lot to me.

The only small consolation is, at the very least, we can read the series until the end, and you can access the paid chapters you unlocked, but beyond that it'll vanish to the void...😭😭😭💔 Once again a loss to digital-only media. 😔💔

Re: Neural Cloud

After releasing the grand finale of its overarching arc (but not reaching the ultimate goal), Neural Cloud CN hasn't gotten any updates (new characters, events, and such) for a few months now (around 6 months, I believe). Then, global servers, which were behind, started to rush major events one after another, when they're usually spaced out. To make matters worse, a major event in EN was clearly translated using MTL. Because of these happenings, a lot of players think either end of service is coming or MICA is trying to sync all servers.

Personally, I think it's the former. The game is modern, polished, and well-optimized, but it's pretty casual and never made it big, with low revenue similar to Girls' Frontline 1. I always think it's a miracle that these 2 games can keep going for so long despite all of that.

The writing's been on the wall for a while. Yesterday, the official JP account (which was a few days ahead of EN) just announced that all costumes and furniture will be permanently available in shop. This seems to confirm and seal the game's fate that it will be either in maintenance mode for a while or ending service sooner or later.

At first (when the game first started rushing major events, possibly due to incoming end of service), I was upset and sad. But now, at this point, I've gone through 5 stages of grief already and accepted it. I had no hope left, but when it's confirmed like this, it turns out it still stings a bit.

...I'll leave my essay (future blog post) for when the game announces end of service/maintenance mode for real lol. I already have an idea on what to write. At the very least, I'm quite positive there will be an offline version. Or so I hope. 🙏🙏🙏

Please don't say anything about "that's how live service games are", I know these things already, no need to say it. I've gone through some end of services, too. What makes it more unique is how this is a game by MICA, the developer of Girls' Frontline 1. It's well-known as a "cockroach of the gacha game" for a reason - it's old, outdated, and has low revenue, yet it kept going for so long (it only shut down in CN last year due to disagreements with the publisher and a new version will come). MICA even made more games in the franchise, including Girls' Frontline 2, which is a well-polished 3D game and got pretty big outside China. To put it simply, the franchise is a passion project of a wealthy man until it actually got profitable enough.

Yonder, a novel platform/app, is closing down. I never use it, but there are official translations of Korean novels there

Yet another (grim) reminder of the above quote...

Paid readers are once again losing. It's so frustrating to get the short end of the stick for doing the right thing (paying for legal access)
