THIS. AGREED!!! My friend and I like to call them "gov (devs) mandated ships" lmao. I think this especially happens a lot to same-sex ships. At this point I feel some of these ships are so forced sometimes, it gives me a bitter taste.

This happens both in canon and fanon (fandom). It especially sucks if you love that character on their own, and then you see the fandom treat them just as a companion to the other character, just a part of the ship. 😔😭💔
