I changed my mind about using my microblog for website updates/changelog, so I never continued it since the first time, but I think this update warrants a longer update. Or more like, I want to talk about it in more details. After several days/weeks of working on-and-off, I'm finally done overhauling my About page!! Read more
I've always wanted to make my about page cuter/prettier/fancier/more aesthetic, ala Canva templates people like to use in their pinned introduction post. "Why not just use Canva?" You might ask. Good question! The answer is, I don't want to! If I change something, I have to edit and re-export images! I don't want that! ...But coding is hard, I have to screenshot it anyway (which can be tricky), and if I change something I have to take another screenshot anyway...so well. 😂🤡
You can say the answer is, well, "Why not?". It's a fun challenge for a hobbyist coder with no sense of aesthetics like me. Perhaps I've gone a bit overboard. I kept adding new things, that's why it took longer than it should. 😂 It's still simpler than some Canva templates, of course, but I'm really happy with the result!
The page looks different from the rest of the website, though some elements remain the same. I want to overhaul my website's main template to match it, and in turn, make it prettier/fancier. That'll definitely take some time - it'll be my long-term project now. I want to make a separate template for Favorites page too. Eventually. Someday.
I also FINALLY used rewrite rules so that the URLs for "About Me" and "About the Website" are prettier. I'll do it to the rest of the website too...eventually...someday...so many links to change... 🫠😭😭😭Fold
