> Artist Menfess: term bahasa indonesia “artis” yg malah lebih dikenal sebagai entertainment ini bikin rancu ya, padahal kata artis itu dri “art” yg mana seni, pernah kenalan, pas kenalan aku ngenalin as “artist”, jir dipikirnya artis sinetron ☺️
KBBI VI: artis = ahli seni; seniman, seniwati (seperti penyanyi, pemain film, pelukis, pemain drama)
Merriam-Webster: artist = a person who creates art (such as painting, sculpture, music, or writing) using conscious skill and creative imagination
Yes, "artis = actress/actor" is strong in Indonesian for some reason (interesting research topic). But the term isn't exclusive to visual artists (like illustrators), either. Visual art isn't the only art form that exists, acting is an art form, too.
Not gonna lie, this is why I've always been iffy about the common internet usage of "artist" to only refer to visual artists. This is why I liked "content creator" because it's more inclusive (until it isn't, and the pragmatic meaning shifted). But I digress.
Spot the literature linguistic student!! 😩

1. I Offer You Nothing
2. Why Did I Stop/Pause Creating?
3. Speaking of Which, I Dislike the Term Content - A Semantic and Pragmatic Study (Short Version)
I OFFER YOU NOTHING
Summary of my blog post.
Seeing everyone else doing something made me feel strangely inadequate for my own inaction. In a digital world where seemingly everyone is creating "content" and the feed is constantly screaming for attention, I’ve been wondering where I fit in. I often feel like I offer "nothing" to my followers - no consistent substance, no funny bits, just a chaotic mix of retweets/shares and occasional life-updates. It’s an eternal tug-of-war between "this is my account and I can do what I want" and the guilt of not providing something "valuable" to the people who follow me.
The truth is, my creative process is mostly a solo act born out of necessity. As a tired and not rich bear, I’ve learned to be self-sufficient, creating for myself and my own ships or OCs because I don't have the energy or funds for much else. While I’ve moved away from using Twitter as an open diary (shoutout to my messy Obsidian journal for doing the heavy lifting now), I still feel that occasional sting when I post something publicly and get no engagement. It makes me question why I post at all, but I think I've realized that for me, platforms like AO3 or Tumblr are mostly just archives - I’m throwing my work into the wild and letting it exist there, regardless of who sees it.
Ultimately, my mind is just incredibly loud. Between coding frustrations, aviation facts, Virtual YouTubers, manga, manhwa, anime, games, etc, there’s too much going on to ever fully translate into a public post. I wrote this because my journal was getting too cluttered and I needed to find some coherence in the noise. I might not have a clear "point" or a grand conclusion, and I know I’m probably a bit of a weirdo for being this open, but letting these thoughts out helps me understand them. If I’m a multi-fandom chaos who offers nothing but my own niche interests once in a blue moon, if any, then so be it.
WHY DID I STOP/PAUSE CREATING?
If you ask me why I stopped/paused drawing and writing for so long...even now, I can't quite answer that with certainty. It's something I must mull over and untangle for a long time. But my conjecture is: depression and starting another hobby, namely coding. While I found joy in my coding - or to be more precise, indie web - endeavors, it's not something a lot of people notice and appreciate nowadays, unlike artworks and fanfics. Long gone is the days of "mainstream" Geocities, personal websites, and fan sites. A bit unfortunate, perhaps, but such is the fate of a niche hobby. At the very least, I know I'm not alone. Shoutout to my indie web neighbors!
SPEAKING OF WHICH, I DISLIKE THE TERM CONTENT
A Semantic and Pragmatic Study (Short Version)
In the past, I once mentioned that liked the term "content creator" because it felt inclusive, but my feelings have shifted over time. To explain why the word now feels icky, I have to look at it through two linguistic lenses: semantics and pragmatics.
In linguistics, semantics is the study of literal, dictionary meaning. According to Merriam-Webster, the noun "content" means: substance; gist; meaning; significance; something contained; the principal substance (such as written matter, images, music, etc.) offered by a website or on social media. Semantically, it’s a perfect umbrella term. It doesn’t care if you are an illustrator, a writer, a musician, or a coder; if you put something inside a medium, you are creating what is inside. This is why I liked it at first, as it gave standing to creators usually sidelined in the general internet term of "artist" but are still making things.
However, pragmatics is where the trouble starts. Pragmatics is the study of how context contributes to meaning - how a word is actually used in society. In the current landscape of the internet, the pragmatics of "content" have shifted over time, from creative expression to industrial commodity. The pragmatic use of the word now implies something disposable. It's a filler with no merit or artistry that keeps people scrolling, a quick and mindless consumption with no substance and depth.
In the context of today's internet, when the word "content" is used, it isn't just describing a medium; it's describing a unit of consumption. Semantically, a poem and a 5-second clip of a dancing cat are both "content," but pragmatically, the word strips away the human intent behind them. It turns a labor of love into a metric - something to be measured by engagement rates rather than by the connection it makes with another person. By calling it "content," creators - whether they are illustrators, writers, coders, or dreamers - become suppliers for the algorithm. Machines that exist solely to endlessly churn out products.
And I know for a fact that I am not alone in noticing this pragmatic use of the word and disliking it.
Because the world uses "content" pragmatically to mean constant output, I noticed that many hobbyists often fall into a trap. We start to view our own private joys - our OCs, our ships, and our loud thoughts - as unrealized products that haven't been "packaged" for a public feed. The internet asks, if it's not "content", does it even exist? This creates a pressure to constantly extract value from our hobbies, to churn things out just to be visible, turning a stress-free hobby into something that feels like work. But a hobby shouldn't be a job; it should be a sanctuary where we are allowed to create things that are messy, private, and - most importantly - commercially useless. Not everything has to be monetized.
Of course, I'm not saying that applies to everyone. It certainly does not apply to a professional who has to make ends meet. One may argue that the word "content" isn't always used with the "mindless consumption" context, and that is true - it's simply that the heavy association has soured it for me. And I understand that right now, there isn't exactly any direct equivalent to the term "content" that can replace it (not as far as I know, at least). I'm not telling you to stop using it either, you are free to keep using it. This is just my personal opinions and feelings.

Re: r/HobbyDrama Hobby Scuffles - What's a piece of media you really love, not because its the best in its genre or the most competently made or whatever, but because of how much it specifically appeals to your specific tastes and has all the tropes you like?
As the Gods Will: Death game is my junk food so to speak, I just turn off my brain and have fun seeing the trainwreck. It has fun games and characters plus some BL, especially in the 2nd series.
Qualia the Purple (some would argue it's a masterpiece and I won't argue against that): yuri, >!time loop, set right what once went wrong, descent into madness I'd say, screw destiny, mind screw, quantum mechanics.!<
The Empty Box and Zeroth Maria: it's been ages since I last read it (I plan to re-read it soonTM) so I've already forgotten some things. What do I say...>!descent into madness (kind of), time loop for certain arcs, death game for a certain arc.!< It's one of the first light novels I've read, so its impact is naturally high.
Shishou series: "mundane horror", occult, eccentric leads.
Phenomeno: "mundane horror", occult, eccentric and fun female lead, bonus points for the artworks by Yoshitoshi ABe.
(What is "mundane horror"? It's a term I coined to describe the type of horror I like. Iirc there's a Japanese term that applies but I forgot the name. How do I explain it... I think they embody the real experience of hearing and talking about horror stories, then going about your own lives like it's nothing. You never know exactly where these stories come from. No truth, no resolution, no conclusion. They end as abruptly as they begin, like mysteries nobody have a real solution to. If that makes sense. In other words, relatable? Sometimes the stories are high stakes thriller-horror, but other times they're eerily calm somehow.)
There's more on my mind, but this list may get too long lol.

For a few days now, I haven't been playing Endfield much ngl. Just dailies. Even though I'm already (still) at the end of chapter 1, about to and need to unlock Wuling, and need to do many other things...for some reason, I don't really feel like doing any of them 🫠
I'm in chapter 1 process 4 part 7 (8 parts in total, then chapter 2 - Wuling - starts). I'M LITERALLY SO DAMN CLOSE LMAO
I really need to do it ASAP as the deadline is fast approaching though, then do Infinity Nikki (I've been procrastinating it too) orz 🫠

Arknights Endfield Gacha Roundup
I'm too lazy (and too busy playing) to post Endfield stuff on social media, so here's a roundup of my gacha rolls so far from the newest to oldest.
Summary from Endfield Tools:

Xaihi loves me so much omg. 💀 Snowshine too. 200 rolls and a Laevatain (YAY!!) later, not even a single Alesh. 🙃 Amazing. Why does he hate me so much?? 😭😭😭 Endfield taketh & giveth...
(2026-02-04)

Before her banner ends, I end up rolling again Laevatain's banner out of whim, and much to my surprise...I GOT HER!! OH MY GOD!!! WELCOME HOME, LAEVATAIN!!! 🥹 Now I can use Wulfgard to his full potential! (?)
(2026-01-28)

SURPRISE EARLY 6⭐?!?! Ah, it's Ardelia...pot 2 it is. 😂😭 Also, welcome home, Arclight!! Only Alesh left, huh. Guess he really hates me for some reason. 🥲
(2026-01-25)

OH MY GOD, FINALLY, A NEW (AND MALE) 5⭐!! WELCOME HOME, DA PAN!!! Next up is Alesh...I hope he comes home soon. And damn, yet another Xaihi. I swear, she loves me way too much! 😓
(2026-01-23)

Oh hey, a Wulfgard pot!! I very much welcome that.
(2026-01-23)

Of course I only got 6⭐ in 40 rolls (it was a pain to get here) and OF COURSE it's the one I wanted the least 🙃 (heard she's good but). At least it's not Ardelia as she's free lol. No maleknights, didn't even get Alesh and Da Pan. Wulfgard says he's the only man I need. 😔😭😭😭💔💔💔🥀 (putting aside 4⭐ lol) (he isn't wrong though, he's my favorite so far. Vigil's position is in danger...)
Too lazy to reroll, dunno if I'll stick around or not anyway. 🫠
(2026-01-22)

Ooh, Avywenna is my first new 5⭐! Welcome home!! I quite like her, but her outfit is truly...something else lol.
(2026-01-22)
Snowshine and Chen Qianyu are my first 5⭐ from gacha?! Why...I already have them!! For free!!! 😭😭😭

Re: r/HobbyDrama Hobby Scuffles - What's a long-delayed "wait, that's who that was? It's so obvious, how did I miss that" moment for your hobby/interests?
There's plenty of moments for me. On top of my head:
1. Tomoaki Maeno is a voice actor who voiced one of my blorbos of all time, Yamanbagiri Kunihiro. I'd say he has a pretty unique, easy to recognize voice. Except me. I heard a character he voiced then somehow didn't register it was him when it's so obvious. This happened a few times already, with the most recent being Wulgard (Arknights Endfield) lol. Only when I found out that it's him could I actually recognize his voice. To top it off, I'm pretty sure I already read somewhere who Wulfgard's voice actor is, but I forgot when I started playing the game lol.
2. The same thing happened with other big voice actors. Pretty sure Akira Ishida is included in that list. And his voice is so unqiue! What the hell, me?!
3. I listened to songs (original and covers) from some utaites, then they debuted as Virtual YouTubers, but I didn't make that connection until much later when someone told me/I stumbled upon someone revealing it.
...Yeah, I'm bad at remembering and recognizing voices (and faces) lol.

Too late for the OG # 9koma but yay for alternatives! And more! # My9Manga # My9Anime # My9Games
I try to have a representative for some demographics/genres
My games are all visual novels + 3 gacha games? Always has been (love the otome game > eroge > yuri > yaoi order lmao)
Yes I play eroge, outing myself, I don't discriminate lmao
I'm sure the likes of Subahibi and Hashihime may get into the list...if I finish them 🫠 (I need to replay from the beginning atp orz. To continue with Kara no Shoujo and FLOWERS too...endless backlog 😭😭😭)
There are plenty of alternatives now, but what I used:
